“Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men, we didn’t have any kind of prison.Because of this, we had no delinquents.Without a prison, there can be no delinquents. We had no locks nor keys and therefore among us there were no thieves. When someone was so poor that he couldn’t afford a horse, a tent or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift.We were too uncivilized to give great importance to private property. We didn’t know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being was not determined by his wealth. We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians, therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another. We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don’t know how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society.”

of coarse books seem empty compared to real life experiences but his book is fucking great. I’m also convinced that had the circumstances been right (i.e. I had been alive when he was and who I am was just as acceptable in a least the 60s) we would have been great homies. He had me cracking up so hard

Sunday, Anonymous hacktivists assaulted PERF because of their alleged involvement in coordinating police crackdowns on Occupy protests across the country.

Anonymous hacktivists assaulted PERF, the Police Executive Research Forum, by taking down their website and releasing the private information of Sherwin B. “Chuck” Wexler - Executive Director at PERF.

PERF is a private but extremely influential national, non-governmental organization with close ties to law enforcement agencies across the country, as well as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The group allegedly orchestrated and coordinated the sometimes brutal police crack down on Occupy Wall Street, and other Occupy movements across the country.

After several news organizations identified PERF as being responsible for advising and coordinating the police crackdowns resulting in Occupy evictions and other brutalities, the hivemind of the nebulous and notorious international Internet collective known as Anonymous began to swarm, and sting.

To clarify, those who are protesting are not simply middle class. However, being practical, the system is unlikely to change if we do not have solidarity with the middle class. Many of us will continue to be marginalized as trash unless we can reach people in ways they understand and hopefully help change the system into a more compassion-orientated one. I think that is the essence of this movement, do you not agree? Or do you? I wasn't sure how to read your post.

I believe that this movement is a step in the right direction.  The movement has allowed for dialogue between the middle class and those who have been the system’s trash for generations.  True solidarity comes from understanding privilege and listening to all groups of people, especially those who are marginalized based on their race, low socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, etc.  What I would hate to see is for the middle class to become satisfied with getting some new reform and then just go home, leaving the rest of us in the street.
